Mountain View is a city in the state of California that lies along the Santa Clara Valley. Maybe you are wondering how Silicon Valley got the name since it is within the Santa Clara Valley. The word silicon implies to the high concentration of semi-conductor companies that were sighted in the area while valley refers to Santa Clara Valley itself. Formerly, it is called as the Valley of Hearts Delight because of the orchards in the area long before it was replaced by technology firms. Mountain View is now home to many big high-tech companies that involves in the production of silicon semiconductor devices such as the Shockley Semiconductor Laboratory, the very first to establish in the city in 1956. As for now, the city has a booming economy as other large companies settled in the place like Fortune 100 companies, Intuit, Symantec, and Google. On the other hand, aside from being a successful city there are other points of interest that can be found within the metropolis. The Shoreline Park features a lot of recreational resources for every tourist like sailing, windsurfing, kayaking, and other water sports activities offered by the Shoreline Aquatic Center. Interesting buildings in the area includes the Historic Adobe Building which is located in Moffett Boulevard, and it is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
