In the confluence of Brandywine Creek and Christina River is located the Wilmington City of Delaware. The large city of Wilmington is the seat of the New Castle Country. It is one of the most reputable of major cities in Delaware Valley Metropolitan Area. The city’s name was based on the name of the prime minster, Earl of Wilmington during the period of George II of Great Britain. The one who gave the city its name is Thomas Penn. For the climate, Wilmington has the so-called Humid Subtropical Climate. This type of climate is characterized by cool winters and hot summers. As of 2009, the Bureau of Census estimates that Wilmington City’s population is around 73,000. With great number of residents, tourists and visitors will surely have a lively and fun vacation. The city is also close to other cities such as New Castle, Pennsville, Bellfonte, Penns Grove, Elsmere, Talleyville, and Greenville.
