The city of Annapolis can be found in the state of Maryland and is part of the Anne Arundel County. Historically, it was temporarily assigned as the capital of the United States of America in the late 1700s. With a rather long history and a rich one at that, the city was incorporated in 1708. Annapolis has had its fair share of historical significance during the different periods that the country has gone through. Between 2007 and 2008, the city celebrated its 300th year anniversary of its incorporation. As of the latest count, the residents of Annapolis have numbered almost 40,000. Most of its residents are employed in top companies within the city like Anne Arundel Medical Center, US Naval Academy, ARINC, The Home Depot and more. Only recently, the Major League Lacrosse team Chesapeake Bayhawks moved from its former home to the city of Annapolis. Annapolis is a scenic city in its own right and certainly combines an age-old charm in a modern setting. Some of the structures, which have long been in existence, can still be found in the streets of the city. These have become architectural treasures that remind residents and visitors of the significant position the city once held in American history. There are limitless activities that are available in the city. A tour of Annapolis history can be done by taking a tour of the oldest statehouses in the nation, the Maryland State House. As the countrys sailing capital, visitors shouldnt miss watching the sailboat racing which takes place in the city harbor.
