About Columbia, South Carolina
Columbia is the capital city of South Carolina. The citys name originates from the famous discoverer and traveler, Christopher Columbus. There are two rivers that meet each other in the state, the Saluda and the Broad. The city was once destroyed by a fire during the Civil war in 1865. There was a conspiracy that the fire was started by a general during the war. This became much controversy during the time. There are many activities for families to choose from. The city also has a number of great places that serve a cultural purpose. Some of these places include the Jamil Temple, known as a worship place for Hindus in the city. The other place with historical significance is the Carolina Coliseum, which contains its own Italian significance behind it. Most major airlines fly in and out of this city.
