The success of the Nissan Plant continuously emerged. The planning began in the early 1980s of building a Nissan Motors manufacturing plant wherein the first vehicle finally produced in 1983. Another Smyrnas historic landmark which is known as the Sam Davis Home is chosen as a state historical site. The preservation of Sam Davis Home finally became a museum in Smyrna and even the spot of his execution in Pulaski is as well marked by a monument and a small museum. The Smyrna Airport/Sewart Air Force Base is the third largest airport in Tennessee. It is the "reliever" airport for Nashville International Airport and is also the states most active general aviation airport. The history itself says that Smyrna had gone a long journey to achieve success.
